Finca Garbet 2007 keeps on harvesting success in the main international wine contests and magazines. The latest award to be added to the ever-growing list is the Great Gold Medal at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, held in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, from April 29th to May 1st.

A few months weeks ago, Finca Garbet 2007 was awarded the Challenge International du Vin Gold Medal in France, and the influencing magazine Gilbert & Gaillard considered it the best Catalan wine among more than 330 tasted wines. It also got 94 Parker points from The Wine Advocate.

Finca Garbet 2007 is a 100% Syrah wine made with grapes grown in the impressive theater-shaped vineyard that Perelada owns in the Costa Brava. It aged for 18 months in Tronçais oak barrels. It has a deep purple colour, with a violet trim. This is a wine with a wide aromatic range that reminds of the Mediterranean where it was born (aromatic herbs, ripe fruits, balsamics, minerals). In the mouth it is fresh, enveloping and really well-balanced. Its tannins are ripe, enveloping, silky. It has a long after-taste and a great ageing potential.

The Concours Mondial de Bruxelles is an internationally recognised touring competition with 22 years of experience. Almost 9,000 wines have been tasted in 2016, and only 80 have been awarded a Great Gold Medal.

Perelada has reached the selected list twice, with Finca Espolla 2011 equalling Finca Garbet. This wine made of selected hand-hardvested grapes from a unique black slate terroir is a blend also based on Syrah (75%), but this time with some Cabernet Sauvignon (20%) and Garnatxa (5%). Aged for 15 months in new barrels of Allier oak, it is deep cherry red in colour, with violet rim. Its aroma reminds of sweet fruits, balsamic notes and minerals. In the mouth it is powerful but round, long-lasting and expressive at the same time. Lively and refreshing acidity. As the rest of Perelada’s single vineyard range, this is a wine with a personality marked by the terroir where it was born.

For Finca Espolla 2011, this is its second important award, after the Golden Bacchus which it received a few months ago.
